WHAT: Local nonprofits that could benefit from strategic planning, financial sustainability planning, governance, and other systems support can apply for a $10,000 capacity-building grant from Missoula Community Foundation (MissoulaCF). The grant program, called the Missoula Project for Nonprofit Excellence, is in its sixth year and typically awards three $10,000 grants per cycle.
“Opportunities like this are pretty rare,” said Heidi Wallace, executive director of EmpowerMT and recipient of a 2015 MPNE grant. “I can get a grant for a new program or to fund a workshop, but a grant that focuses on supporting internal processes to help us operate more effectively and efficiently is tough to come by. And so important.”
The application process begins with a mandatory informational session. Nonprofit representatives must either attend a webinar on Tuesday, October 9, at 4 p.m. or an in-person session on Wednesday, October 10, at 12 p.m. in the large conference room at the Missoula Public Library. For more details, please visit https://missoulacommunityfoundation.org/receive/apply-for-funding/
The goal of the MPNE program is to help grant recipients strengthen internal operations so that they may reach their full potential. The three selected nonprofits will each work with a local consultant to assess their organizational strengths and needs for improvement. The consultants will help the nonprofits identify ways they can become more effective and efficient in serving their clients and the greater Missoula community. The groups will each have an opportunity to implement one of the recommendations resulting from the assessment.
Last year’s MPNE recipients include Arts Missoula, The Flagship Program, The Learning Center at Red Willow.
