WGC – Conflict of Interest Policy

“We, the Directors of Missoula Community Foundation and Women’s Foundation of Montana, the giving circle steering committee, and general members of the Women’s Giving Circle of Missoula County, resolve that no member of the organization shall participate in any discussion or vote on any matter in which she/ he/ they or a member of their immediate family  has potential conflict of interest due to having material economic involvement regarding the matter being discussed. When such a situation presents itself, the directors, the steering committee, and general members must announce their potential conflict, disqualifying themselves, and be excused from the meeting or voting until the discussion is over on the matter involved. The Program Manager or Directors of the giving circle are expected to make an inquiry if such conflicts appear to exist and the member has not made it known.

A conflict of interest is defined as an actual or perceived interest by a Director, steering committee member and/ or general member in an action that results in or has the appearance of resulting in, personal, organizational or professional gain.

Any member that is currently serving on a board or staffed by an organization applying for the giving circle grant, must announce this and disqualify themselves from discussions of applicants or voting for applicants in the cycle.
