Free Cycles to Recieve $10,000 Grant
from the Women’s Giving Circle of Missoula County
Free Cycles is very grateful and honored to receive this grant from the Women’s Giving Circle. Our programs aim to get to the root of our community’s environmental challenges. One successful program, Build A Bike, empowers people with education, hands-on skills and obtaining their own free bicycle. Build A Bike is in great need of a full-time coordinator. This grant will help meet that need. We have found that people building bicycles together is a strong way to create environmental advocates and stewards. Every mile biked instead of driven saves Missoula money and helps keep our water and air clean.— Bob Giordano, Executive Director of Free Cycles
Before voting for the grant recipient, members of the Women’s Giving Circle heard presentations from Free Cycles and two other grantee finalists, Home ReSource and Clark Fork Coalition. Voting was very close with only one or two votes separating the finalists.
